Submissions

This journal is not accepting submissions at this time.

Author Guidelines

Submissions are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3,000 to Maximum 4,000 words (excluding references).

  • Can be any form of research (empirical, case-study, etc…).

  • Can also be a literature review, systematic review paper, etc..

  • We do not accept opinion pieces or anything alike. Although the weight of primary and/or secondary research and review is case-by-case, your paper must be generally research-led.
  • No identifying information (Names, addresses, course details, emails, GUIDs ect.) should be left in the text of your submitted paper.

Editorial Process:

Notices across our social media pages, website, and university communications will let authors know when the 'Call for Submissions' is open. When this happens, a submission form on our website will become accessible. All papers, which will be processed to be displayed anonymously to our editorial board, will be reviewed, and a decision will be made in due course.

If your submission is accepted, you will be assigned an editor who will work with you in getting your paper suitable for publication - only this editor (alongside the three members of the executive) will have access to your paper and personal details. Once you and your editor agree on revisions needed from the initial review, your paper will be submitted to a member of our Academic Advisory Board, anonymously, for peer-review. This process is not singular, and if sent back with feedback, you will have ample time and opportunity to make the necessary changes to be sent back to another reviewer for a new review, and so on and so forth.

Once the peer-review process is completed, and your paper is approved for publication, it will be allocated space in the upcoming volume and will be moved to pre-publication formatting.

Stylistic & Bibliographic Requirements:

We do not expect authors to adhere rigorously to a specific style guide on initial submission, however:

  • All sources used must be appropriately referenced, and to the fullest possible extent. DOIs & URLs should be provided when available.
  • There is a preference for Chicago "Notes & Bibliography" style for citations, examples of which can be found here in the link below. This is not necessary on initial submission, but will make formatting easier at a later date should your paper be accepted: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html

Images & Figures

  • Images and figures used should be either your own work, in the public domain, or adequate permissions must have been sought from the copyright holder. Alternatively, you may submit in the anticipation that other images/figures meeting these requirements may be added to the paper at a later date. Images/figures under fair use are permitted.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • You, as the author, must be an undergraduate student at the University of Glasgow– or in exceptional cases a postgraduate looking to submit undergraduate work.
  • Where available, DOIs & URLs for references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or PDF file format.
