Articles
Mapping the Impossible is an open-access student journal publishing peer-reviewed early-career research into fantasy and the fantastic. The editorial board and reviewers are composed of current students and recent graduates from institutions across the world. Our first issue, Beyond the Anglocentric, is available to read now!
We are currently open to submissions for our third issue, to be published in 2024. Our general issues operate with a rolling submissions and publication model, so if you’re interested in submitting to us for a general issue, we would love to see your paper no matter when it’s ready! Our second issue, to be published in winter 2023, will be a special issue entitled ‘Fantasy Across Media,’ following the theme of GIFCon 2022. Submissions for this special issue are currently closed.
While we do not offer full payment for papers at Mapping the Impossible, we are pleased to be able to provide a small, token reward for each paper we publish. For more details, please see our Rewarding Research page.
If you’d like to get involved, we are looking for reviewers and we would love to hear from you!
