About the Journal

The journal was established to create an inclusive and supportive space for people to share work, experiences, questions and ideas relating to decolonial practice.

We are interested in contributions that critically examine relationships between knowledge, power, history, identity, culture, representation and institutional practice. We particularly welcome work that connects ideas with practice, reflects on the possibilities and limitations of decolonial approaches, or brings academic, student, practitioner and community knowledge into conversation.

Contributions may address decolonial practice in education, curriculum, research, professional practice, cultural institutions, public engagement, community settings and other areas of social and cultural life. Contested Ground is interdisciplinary and does not promote a single definition or model of decolonisation. It provides space for different perspectives, critical disagreement and careful engagement with the tensions, responsibilities and ethical questions involved in this work.
